Deliverables: Visual Identity, Singlet Design, Custom Typography, Merch Design
BRIEF
After working with Jose from Monstros Run Club on their first official singlet and club logo, I was thrilled to have him reach back out to discuss ideas for a fresh singlet concept. While the first version focused on tying the club to it's Houston roots, this new version needed to incorporate the icons, phrases, and concepts that had come to define the clubs identity.
Our initial conversation centered on defining what each of those elements were. In the end we came up a large list of options including club slogans, area codes, cumbia music, and icons ranging from coffee cups to cassette tapes.
Inspiration was never a problem; the challenge was incorporating these elements into a cohesive package.

SOLUTION
Using the reference of Mayan calendars, I combined the core club elements into a single image that allowed seemingly unconnected icons to exist within a single concept. Each ring of the calendar was used for a central idea. For example, one ring would represent cumbia dancers while another might represent the clubs various area codes.
This calendar design was used as the background for the club's newest singlet, while also working as the central design feature in products such as bandanas and flags.
The central club wordmark is featured prominently across the chest, helping to cement the identity that was introduced during our first collaboration.
OUTCOME
The mayan calendar of club elements has been used across digital and print formats and now serves as a truly unique signature of the club. The Monstros wordmark was further established and we were able to build on the audience engagement that our first collaboration kicked off.
